  • What is ELEC?

    Established in 1973‚ ELEC monitors the campaign financing of all elections in the State. Whether the election is for Governor or Mayor‚ member of the Legislature or a City Council‚ candidates and campaign organizations are required to file with the Commission contribution and expenditure reports.

Penalties

Information regarding the majority of Commission penalties can be found in Subchapter 17 of the Commission’s Unofficial Regulation Text. Additional penalty information is contained within Chapter 25 of the Commission’s Unofficial Regulation Text.

Right to Appeal

A notice of appeal of a Commission Final Decision must be filed with the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division "within 45 days from the date of service of the decision…" New Jersey Court Rule 2:4–1(b).
