  • What is ELEC?

    Established in 1973‚ ELEC monitors the campaign financing of all elections in the State. Whether the election is for Governor or Mayor‚ member of the Legislature or a City Council‚ candidates and campaign organizations are required to file with the Commission contribution and expenditure reports.

Special Alert to Treasurers

Treasurers of campaigns‚ political committees‚ continuing political committees and political party committees should be on the look–out for emails requesting to send funds. They may appear to be sent from individuals within your organization‚ however‚ could be fraudulent. ELEC has been informed of recent attempts to embezzle funds from treasurers sent through emails. Before authorizing transfers of funds be sure to check the origin of the request and confirm with authorized representatives within your particular organization. If you receive a request you believe is fraudulent you should immediately contact your local prosecutor’s office.
